With ManageCat's Monitoring functionlity, all the performance indicators of Apache Tomcat instances are under your control. See all the key performance indicators and set alerts for them.

Real Time Server Status

Real Time View Page enables administrators to see the server runtime information in real time. This page provides information about

  • Overview of running server instance
  • Java Virtual Machine
  • Current JVM threads and classes
  • JVM Heap and Non-Heap Memory
  • Operating System
  • JVM startup classpath and program arguments

Live Charts

There are several type of Live Charts in ManageCat.

JVM Live Charts

JVM Live Charts in ManageCat provides Java Virtual Machine related information for the running server. It provides graphical charts for "Heap Memory Usage, Threads, JVM Classes and current CPU Usage".

Server Live Charts

Server Live Charts provides detailed information about Apache Tomcat protocol handlers. It provides graphical charts for Sent-Received Bytes, Request Error Counts, Request Processing Times and Busy Tomcat Threads.

Datasource Live Charts

DataSource Live Charts provides datasource connections related information for the running server. It provides graphical charts for Active and Idle DataSource Connections.

JVM Memory Pool Charts

DataSource Live Charts provides  provides Java Virtual Machine memory pools related information for the running server.

JVM GC Charts

JVM GC Charts provides information about garbage collectors running inside the JVM.

Server Metrics

ManageCat provides a very cool and powerful Metric and Alert infrastructure. Metric Item is a smallest data provided by connected agents in some intervals. For example,JVM Max Heap Size, Current Thread Count,
Pooled DataSource Active Connections are sample metric items. Each metric item is categorized under Metric Type. "Connectors, Jvm, Operating System, Web Applications, Threads" are some of the metric types.

Metric Dashboards

ManageCat provides very cool and powerful Metric Dashboard functionality. Metric dashbaords contain any number of Graphical Charts. Collected values of the metric items will be plotted on the chart according to the user defined time interval.

Supported Chart Types:

  • Line Chart
  • Stacked Chart
  • Bar Chart
  • Donut Chart
  • Pie Chart

All dashboard are live and updated automatically.

Server Status Information

It is possible to monitor status of Tomcat Connectors, Virtual Hosts and Clusters. All the data is live and refreshed automatically according to the time interval selected.

Tomcat Connectors

Tomcat Connectors page provides detailed information about Apache Tomcat protocol handlers, a.k.a connectors. There can be several protocol handlers that are configured by administrators. In default configuration of Tomcat, only "HTTP" and "AJP" connectors are enabled.

Virtual Hosts

Virtual Hosts page enables administrators to view current virtual hosts of the Tomcat Server. It is possible to start/stop and add/remove hosts.

Cluster Status

Cluster Status page lists clusters that current Tomcat Server's engine/s or host/s are joined. You can check the status of all cluster members that use same cluster channel/s with the current server.

When you open the page you will see cluster details of the current server if this server is joined into the cluster. Clustering is supported on Engine or Host level. By engine level, it means that you will support clustering in all virtual hosts of Tomcat, and share the messaging component.

Tomcat Internal Components

Tomcat consists of several different internal components, such as "Service, Engine, Host, Connector, Context, Cluster, Realms, Valves etc.". With Managecat detailed server configuration view, you can inspect all the default and configured parameters of these components.

Web Application Monitoring

With ManageCat, you can monitor web applications with web application based metrics. You can easily create application based dashboards using these metrics. Moreover, you can get all configuration properties of the runningweb applications, like "Current sessions, web.xml, context.xml, resource references, contextinitialization parameters, servlets, filters etc."

JNDI Context Monitoring

With ManageCat, you can inspect JNDI tree of the running web applications. Moreover, you can also inspect server global JNDI tree.

All features are in cloud or on-premise.
